Care Forward opens state-of-the-art client Wellness Centre

Care Forward’s inaugural state-of-the-art Wellness Centre was officially opened on Tuesday, 20 February, as clients, family members, health and aged care sector stakeholders were treated to a tour of the brand-new facility and live exercise physiology demonstration by Care Forward staff and clients.

Boasting contemporary exercise equipment suitable for both individual and group classes, as well as a number of private consultation rooms for one-on-one sessions with nutritionists and other health specialists, the Rosny Park Wellness Centre will provide a central hub for Care Forward’s southern clients and their families to access high quality services and information.

Care Forward CEO Wendy Edwards said the Rosny Park Centre was just the beginning.

“Our clients are based all around the State, and we already have plans to launch Centres in each major region to ensure all our clients are able to access this fantastic equipment and the one-on-one consultations with our team of specialists,” she said.

“The Centre is essentially the host site for our Up and About program, which has helped to significantly reduce our clients’ reliance on medications and mobility equipment and help restore the independence that is so important for all of us, particularly as we get older.”

The opening was attended by Clarence City Council Alderman Heather Chong (on behalf of the Mayor), as well as representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), Carers Tasmania, service providers and Care Forward clients and their family members.

“We’re very grateful for the ongoing support we’ve received from all levels of government - Local, State and Federal,” Mrs Edwards said.

“Without it, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do for our clients.

“The biggest thank yous, however, are reserved for our clients and our incredible staff.

“Our dedicated team consistently go above and beyond for our clients, and their contributions do not go unnoticed. As such, the Wellness Centre will also play host to our staff wellbeing program, THRIVE.

“We want our staff to be happy and healthy, not just at work, but all 365 days of the year.”

“Our aim for the Centre was to create a safe, inclusive, fun and supported environment for clients to increase their mobility, independence and confidence, and I think that’s what we’ve achieved.”

The Wellness Centre, located at 6 Bayfield Street, Rosny Park, is open now to all Care Forward clients. For more information on the equipment, services and specialist consultations available on-site, call 1300 364 876.
